Traffic Study Advises City To Remove Berms

Street Closures Near I-696 May Go

A traffic study commissioned by the city of Royal Oak recommended the removal of street closures near I-696. The City Commission paid Fleis & Vanderbrink $12,500 for the study, currently under review by Royal Oak’s Traffic Committee.

The study’s recommendations include removing berms that block five roads in Royal Oak to improve traffic at affected intersections. Tomorrow night, Tuesday, Jan. 23, the Traffic Committee will conduct a public hearing focusing on the the study’s recommendations and possibly removing berms. The meeting will take place at 7 p.m., after which the traffic committee will review public input before making formal plans.

Affected roadways include Batavia, Irving, Harrison, Parent and Dondero streets. The berm on Hudson east of Knowles would remain, officials say.
