Antique Show at Liberty School Saturday

The Saline Area Historical Society is hosting the 25th annual event at a new location.

The Saline Area Historical Society will host its 25th annual Winter Antique Show at the Saturday.

The show is open from 9 a.m. to 4:00.  There is plenty of parking at the school.

Janet Swope, co-chairman of the show, said the new site will allow for larger booths, more vendors and, of course, more warmth.  Previously, the show was held at the Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds.

Liberty School also hosts the  Saline Farmer’s Market from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.

“The two events will not interfere and both groups hope that they will enhance each other’s attendance with the ability to easily go from one to the other,” according to Jan Harwood, of the historical society.

The Girl Scouts, who have served their famous pies at the previous antique shows, will be there to serve lunch.

The annual event is a major fundraiser for the historical society.

“The event is the major fund raiser for the society. Money generated from the event goes to the operation of the Saline Depot Museum and the Rentschler Farm Museum,” said Dean Greb, President of the Saline Area Historical Society.

This includes repairs and restoration work. Greb added.

“It is a continuous effort to maintain the old buildings and collections at both sites,” he said.
