Bid On Local 'Celebrity' Creations at Thursday's Empty Bowls Event
Empty Bowls showcases the work of student artists and raises money for Food Gatherers of Washtenaw County.

Local "celebrities" have lent their creative skills to Thursday's Empty Bowls benefit.
Like the Saline Area Schools visual arts students whose work will showcased at the benefit for Food Gatherers of Washtenaw County, local figures like Fire Chief Craig Hoeft have created ceramic bowls. Their bowls can be purchased during a silent auction at the event. Proceeds benefit the Washtenaw County food bank.
The second annual Empty Bowls benefit for Food Gatherers of Washtenaw County takes place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Feb. 2 in the Commons Area. To purchase tickets, visit the Payschools webpage. Tickets are $12 per person and $40 for a family.

Visual arts students and teachers from throughout the district have created ceremic bowls for the event. Everyone who attends the benefit can take a bowl home with them. The empty bowl is meant to serve as a reminder of all the people who go hungry.
