Good Morning Saline
Today's Good Morning Saline greeting was given by Saline Area Firefighter Kurt Schneider, who invited residents to come visit the from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday for the fall open house. The fire department will show of the trucks and have demonstrations. The smokehouse will be in operation to teach kids about fire safety. The fire department will serve cider and doughnuts. The firehall is located at 205 E. Michigan Ave.

It was a busy day for the Hornets. The Saline girls' golf team is going back to the state tournament Oct. 14-15 at Grand Valley State University. The Hornets were second at the regional tournament held at the University of Michigan Golf Course. Karla Gross was the tournament medalist, shooting a 78. We'll have more later today. The varsity football team also had a big night. rushed for 355 yards and 5 touchdowns as Saline defeated Huron 45-25. In varsity soccer action, the Saline soccer team defeated Monroe 8-0. Council Supports Road Tax
to support a one-year, 0.6-mill county road tax that will come before the Wasthenaw County Board of Commissioners. Saline made its support of the plan contingent upon the county using Salines "share" of the tax revenue on Saline road projects. The tax would cost the owner of a $200,000 home about $60. The county board votes on the proposal later this month.
