Holden and ZImmer Announce Endorsements of Local Leaders
The schools board candidates announce they were endorsed by state representatives Mark Ouimet and Rick Olson, township supervisors Mandy Grewal (Pittsfield) and Joe Zurawski (York), and former Washtenaw County Commissioner Kristin Judge.
The campaign for school board candidates David Holden and David Zimmer has announced endorsements from local leaders.
"The duo’s broad-based support recently was confirmed when they received endorsements from highly-regarded community leaders including State Representatives Mark Ouimet and Rick Olson, Township Supervisors Mandy Grewal (Pittsfield) and Joe Zurawski (York), and former Washtenaw County Commissioner Kristin Judge," stated a release issued Thursday.
“It’s been great meeting with the community and discussing the issues in detail,” Holden said.

“I think we’d both say that the last several months have really energized us,“ Zimmer said. “It’s great to see our message being endorsed by a cross section of leaders as the proper path for our children, community, educators and, in fact, everyone who works hard every day to make our children successful.”
As part of their dual campaign, Holden and Zimme have focused on information sharing, attending traditional candidate debates, producing an issue-based flyer, and hosting public “Chalk Talks” at various locations around the city. They've also conducted door-to-door visits.

“We wanted to speak directly with community members, gather their views and opinions, and discuss the issues,” Holden said in the release. “To date, we’ve knocked on more than 1,800 doors. We’ve found that our message of keeping Saline an elite district and restoring financial stability has resonated within the district.”
Holden and Zimmer said they spent a great deal of time discussing the Saline Area Schools District’s financial model, restoring its reserve fund and reducing class sizes.
