Hornets Fall in 7th OT
Saline's boys' lacrosse team has started the the season with two overtime losses against top notch teams.

It took four regulation periods and seven overtime periods to determine a winner Saturday when Okemos visited Saline for a matchup of two historically strong boys’ varsity lacrosse teams. Unfortunately for the Hornets (0-2), Saline lost 9-8.
It was Saline’s second straight overtime loss to open the season, after Wednesday’s defeat by Holt.
Brad Harris scored three goals to lead Saline. Nick Karapas scored twice and added an assist. Colin Cederna, Tommy Hickey and Sean Corcoran each tallied once for Saline.

Austin Burd played well in goal for the Hornets, particularly in overtime, shutting down Okemos until the 1:25 mark of the seventh extra period.
Okemos jumped to a 3-0 lead early in the second period before Saline replied with goals by Harris, Cederna and Karapas to even the score. Okemos added two more goals in the second to take a 5-3 lead into halftime.

The Hornets controlled play in the third. Karapas set up Hickey’s goal in the first minute of play. Midway through the third, Okemos scored to make it 6-4. The Hornets tied the game two goals from Karapas and Corcoran in 52 seconds late in the third.
Harris scored two goals in the fourth period to give Saline an 8-7 lead, but Okemos tied it with 6:26 to play.
The Hornets are home Tuesday to Bedford. The game starts at 7 p.m.
