The recent dip in temperatures has finally allowed for the opening of the outdoor ice rink.
Jeff Fordice, director of the city's Department of Public Works, said residents who want to skate better should take advantage of the rink Saturday and Sunday, as the forecast calls for rain on Monday.

When ice is ready, the rink is open from 8 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday-Saturday. Hockey sticks and pucks will be allowed from 3-6 p.m. Monday-Friday, and from 9-11 a.m. and 3-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Users skate at their own risk. Safety gear is recommended. The city does not provide an attendant on duty.
The rink is sponsored by the City of Saline and Saline Area Schools. The Saline Rotary, the city’s Economic Development Corporation and the school district’s CARES grant helped purchase the rink.
Community Education and Dr. Sheryl Pomerance contributed to the purchase of a new liner for the rink this year. The rink is maintained by the DPW with help from the Saline Area Fire Department.
