Lady Hornets Win Without Captain
On an emotional day, the Saline varsity girls basketball team found normalcy on the court in a 46-23 win over Tecumseh.

TECUMSEH — Playing without captain Amanda Price, the Saline Hornets varsity girls basketball team toughed out a 46-23 victory in Tecumseh.
Caitlin Ellis scored 12 points to lead a balanced Saline attack. Britten Clark, nine points, Melissa Needham, seven points, Alli Cope, six points, and Katie Crysler, five points, also figured into the scoring for the Hornets, who won their third straight game to improve to 3-2 this season.
Coach Jeff Waltz said the basketball game provided a few hours of normalcy in what was an emotional day for the team. The team captain’s father, Mike Price, passed away in his sleep overnight.

“We played with heavy hearts tonight but for a few hours we were able to give our town, our team, and our fans an outlet and some sense of normalcy,” Waltz said. “I am so proud of the way our girls handled themselves all day and our thoughts and prayers certainly go out to the Price family."
Saline’s junior varsity team won by a score of 32-26.
