The Saline Fire Department was able to knock down the fire in 20 minutes.

A family of three escaped an early morning fire without injury Friday morning.

“I was the first on the scene. The attached garage was fully involved,” said Fire Chief Craig Hoeft.

“We knocked the fire down in about 20 minutes and kept the fire from getting in the house. There was smoke and water damage to the house,” said Hoeft.
The neighboring houses were evacuated, as well. Hoeft said the fire melted siding on one of the neighboring homes.
In all, 16 members of the department were on site battle the blaze. Huron Valley Ambulance and Saline Police were also on the scene.
Hoeft said that the fire is being investigated although, he said, it did not appear suspicious.
Many in the neighborhood watched firefighters battle the blaze.
Brian Gowing, who lives across the street, described the scene.
“We were woken up with screams and explosions and I went outside and saw the house fully engulfed in flames,” Gowing said.
