Police Report: Goods Stolen During Break-in at M&D Auto

The following items are from Saline Police Department records detailing incidents between Jan. 23 and Jan. 30. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

Saline Police are investigating a break-in at M&D Auto, 200 E. Michigan Ave., in which more than $2,000 in goods were stolen.

The break-in occurred between 6:30 p.m. Jan. 28 and 12:30 p.m. Jan. 29, according to a police report.

According to the report, the list of stolen items includes car stereos, copper speaker wire, an iPod, and cash from a cash drawer.

York Teen Claims Assault, Robbery

Police investigated a reported robbery and assault of a 17-year-old York Township boy.

He and a 21-year-old Ypsilanti man were in the parking lot in front of Powerhouse Gym at about 10:30 a.m. Jan. 25 when the incident occurred, according to police.

At first, the York teen told police they were in Saline to shop at Dollar General for his mother but he later said they were in Saline to collect money from guys they were supposed to meet in the parking lot, according to police records.

The teen said that a white Chevy Impala approached the vehicle and that a male got out of the front seat of the car and, after a brief exchange, struck him in the face with a closed fist before pulling a out a knife and using it to puncture two of his tires, according to police. The suspect also stole his license and vehicle keys, according to the police report. The teen later told police that a small amount of cash was stolen from him during the incident.

According to the report, during a break in the interview with police, the teen left the interview room and the police station without announcement. Police returned to the scene of the incident and found the teen with family. A Michigan State Police trooper and canine unit arrived to search the parked vehicle for drugs. No drugs were found, according to the report.

The teen’s mother was advised that, if her son wanted to prosecute, he should return to the police department to view a photo lineup. The teen did not return.

The 21-year-old Ypsilanti man was arrested for a criminal bench warrant and turned over to the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office, according to police. Police found two plastic bags containing what police suspect is marijuana on the man, according to the report.

Woman Leaves Purse Behind, Credit Card Rung Up

Someone charged $600 to a credit card belonging to a Dexter woman who believes she left it behind with her wallet after eating dinner at Mark’s Midtown Coney Jan. 25.

The 69 year-old woman said she paid her bill at the restaurant at about 6 p.m. and believed she left her wallet on the table and walked out, according to police records. The next morning, she was notified of a $200 purchase at Target.  A subsequent $400 purchase at Meijer was denied, according to police.

Injuries Averted in Head-On Crash Involving Semi Trucks

There were no injuries in a minor head-on collision between two semi-trucks on Jan. 26. The crash occurred near 7700 E. Michigan Ave, shortly before midnight, according to police.

Car Damaged While Woman at Senior Center

A 69-year-old Saline woman leaving the senior center Jan. 27 was surprised to discover that her vehicle had been damaged while she was inside.

The woman arrived at the center at 3 p.m. When she left at 6:30 p.m., she discovered front end damage to her 2010 Chevy Malibu that she’d backed in to a parking space.
