Police Report: Goods Stolen from Michigan Avenue Uniform Company

According to a police report, a company official arrived at 8:25 a.m Oct. 28 and noticed broken glass in the south pedestrian door. Police say a concrete gutter downspout was thrown through the glass door to gain entry to the building. Thousands of dollars worth of goods were stolen, including knives, watches, sunglasses, pepper spray, badges, watches, clothing, bags, boots and flashlights. Many of the items stolen were from a display case featuring 5.11 brand police uniforms and gear. Cash was also stolen from a register, according to police.

Woman Arrested After Minor Collision

A 56-year-old Saline woman was arrested and ticketed after a minor collision on Oct. 24. At about 6:30 p.m., according to police, the woman was driving a Chevy Malibu westbound on East Michigan Avenue near Keveling Drive when she sideswiped another westbound vehicle.

The driver of the other vehicle continued and then turned around to try and locate the vehicle it had been struck by. The vehicle was found a minutes later unoccupied in the store parking lot, according to the police report.

Police were called. They eventually located the woman, who told police she waited for the driver of the vehicle she struck before going into the ACO Hardware store to browse.

The woman told police she wasn’t aware she was required to report the collision to police. She was was arrested on charges of driving with a suspended license, failure to yield the right of of way, and failure to stop after a crash. She posted a $310 bond and was released.

Egg Throwing Incident Leads To Citations

A 19-year-old Saline woman was cited for failing to stop and a 19-year-old Mount Pleasant woman was cited for throwing eggs at a motor vehicle on Oct. 29.

According to a police report, police were on patrol near East Michigan Avenue and Harris Street before midnight when they heard screeching tires and a collision.

Police spotted a couple vehicles, including one which fled the scene and then drove through a stop sign.

The driver of the car told police that the passenger threw an egg at the vehicle. According to the report, the victim stopped his vehicle and yelled at the people in the vehicle from which the egg was thrown. He then cut off the vehicle and hit the brakes, causing the collision, according to report.

Mementos Missing From Oakwood Grave

A 58-year-old Milan woman told police that someone took pictures, ceramic ducks and other mementos from her daughter’s grave at Oakwood Cemetery. The woman said the objects were there on Oct. 22 and gone when she returned Oct. 27.

Clark Street Skirmish Leads To Arrest

A 23-year-old Saline man was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct Oct. 27 after police responded at approximately 6:30 p.m. to reports of a fight on the 200 block of Clark Street.
