Police Report: Saline Teen Arrested With Suspected Heroin During Traffic Stop

A 17-year-old Saline male was arrested after police found what they suspect is heroin under a car seat during a traffic stop Oct. 10.
Just after 11 a.m., at Michigan Avenue and River Oaks Drive, police stopped a vehicle that was clocked at 52 miles per hour in a 35 miles per hour zone, according to the report. The driver, an 18-year-old Saline Township resident, was cited for speeding. He was released. During a search of the vehicle, a bag containing what police believe to be heroin was found under the driver’s seat, according to police. The passenger in the backseat, a teenager who lives in the city, was arrested for violation of the controlled substance act and possessing drug paraphernalia, according to the report.
ACH Worker Claims Man Struck Him With Van at Busch's

Police continue to investigate an ACH worker’s claims that he was hit by a van driven by a Saline man who harassed him at the Busch’s grocery store on Oct. 6.
The 49-year-old Ypsilanti man said he was on break from ACH when he walked to Busch’s to buy a snack. According to the police report, while in the store, the man said another man, who police learned was a 45-year-old Saline resident, harassed him. The two men had two verbal exchanges in the grocery store, according to the report. The victim told police that in the parking lot, the man got in his van and gunned it toward him. The victim said he tried to jump out of the way but was struck, and that he was treated for minor injuries. Police continue to investigate.

Ann Arbor Man Arrested for Drunk Driving
An Ann Arbor man was arrested Oct. 8 after a motorist alerted police to an errant driver. Police were stopped on North Ann Arbor Street near McKay Street at 11 p.m. when a woman in the vehicle in front of the cruiser got out and told police that the vehicle in front of her was all over the road, according to reports. Police caught up to the vehicle that was stopped at a light. When the lights cycled and the vehicle remained stopped, police flashed their lights and conducted a traffic stop. Preliminary breathalyzer tests showed the driver had a blood alcohol content of .35 and .36, more than four times the legal limit of .08. The man was transported by Huron Valley Ambulance to St. Joseph’s Hospital due to the high level of intoxication, according to police. He was arrested on counts of for drunk driving, driving with a suspended license and transporting open liquor. His 1997 GMC Yukon was impounded.
Man Arrested for Paying With Acquaintance's Checkbook
Saline Police arrested a 49-year-old Ypsilanti man for allegedly paying a bill using an acquaintance’s checking account. On Oct 1, the man wrote a check for $80 to Maplewood Lanes in the name of his acquaintance, police say.
Cash, Jewelry Stolen from Watson Street
Police are investigating the theft of cash and jewelry from a home on the 900 block of Watson Street. An envelope with cash was stolen prior to Sept. 29. Jewelry was stolen while the homeowners were out of town during the first week of October.
Tools Stolen From Clark Street
Police are investigating the theft of several pieces of equipment that went missing from the property of a Clark Street businessman over the summer. The victim, a 61-year-old Saline resident, told police that a plasma cutter, miter saw, pruner, chainsaw, hedge trimmer and wheels were stolen from the 200 block of Clark Street during the summer months.
Vehicle Damaged While Employee Works
A 32-year-old woman told police that someone damaged her Ford Escape while she was at work Oct. 4. The woman, an employee at Cunningham Vision, 555 E. Michigan Ave., noticed a large scrape and dent on her right rear passenger door at about 6:30 p.m. There are no suspects.
