Saline HS Science Olympiad Team Wins Regional
Saline's team, which won 13 of 23 events and placed in the top six in every event, moves on to the state tournament at MSU.

Science Olympiad team won the regional event held at Hillsdale College March 31.
Saline's team, comprising 15 students, was one of nine high school teams in the event, which consisted of 23 individual events. There were also three alternate teams.
At the Science Olympiad, the top three placers finish medals and the next three placers earn ribbons. Saline went home with a boatload of medals and ribbons. Saline captured first place medals in 13 of the 23 events. The team also captured a medal or ribbon in all 23 events. Saline had five second-place medals, a third place medal, a fourth-place ribbon, two fifth-place ribbons and a sixth place ribbon.

Saline's alternate team also competed in indivudal events. It earned a first-place medal, a third-place medal, a fourth-place ribbon and a fifth-place ribbon.
The winning team now begans preparing for the state tournament, which is held April 28 at Michigan State University. Joining Saline is Ann Arbor Pioneer, the runner up at the Hillsdale College regional.

Saline's winning team included Ian Kaferle, Jessica Lipa, Noel Bhattacharyya, Andrew Chen, Vishal Subramanian, Karl Winsor, Samory Bridgewater, Daniel Westfall, Hemil Mistry, Jay Banet, Nirvan Bhattacharyya, Andrea Blankenship, Mehul kulkarni, Victor Chen, Eric Winsor, Andrew Abdallah, Jacob Tanner, Kyle Fitzpatick, Srimona Bandyopadhyay, Michael Torssell, Sushrut Athavale and coach Shounak Athavale.
"The Saline Science Olympiad team would like to acknowledge Foundation for Saline Area Schools a grant to buy study materials and support from Saline High School Science and Technology departments," said coach Shounak Athavale.
