Saline is a place like no other. And whether you grew up here, recently moved to the area or you’re just an occasional visitor, you know that Saline has its own special traditions and history that make it so unique.
A few things to know:
- Saline was once home to a bustling salt industry, which is where the town got its name. Visitors can explore the history of the industry at the Saline Area Historical Society's museum and learn about how it shaped the city.
- Did you know that Saline is home to one of the largest Celtic festivals in North America? The Saline Celtic Festival takes place every July and features music, dance, and cultural demonstrations, as well as food and craft vendors.
- If you're interested in art, be sure to check out the Saline Area Players. This community theater group puts on a variety of productions throughout the year, ranging from classic plays to modern musicals.
- For a taste of the outdoors, visit the Mill Pond Park. This beautiful park features a large pond, walking trails, picnic areas, and a playground. It's the perfect spot for a family outing or a peaceful stroll.
- Saline is home to a unique attraction called the Rentschler Farm Museum, which showcases life on a 19th-century Michigan farm. Visitors can tour the restored farmhouse, barn, and outbuildings and learn about the tools, equipment, and practices of the era.
