The Hornets played a rare Monday night match and did not have the opportunity to practice between Saturday's tournament and Monday's conference match.
"We hadn't played since the tournament on Saturday, so having to play a conference match without any practice was a first for us. I thought the team responded well against a good Skyline team," Shea said.
Salien plays at North Branch Saturday.
"We still have lots of room for improvement on-court communication, shot selection and court movement," Shea said. "But we are going to have a good week of practice."
The Hornets host a volleyball quad at at 4 p.m. Oct. 27. District play begins Nov. 1 at Bedford.
