Saline Water Polo Team Takes 2 of 4 at Birmingham

Saline beat Sealholm amd Grand Haven but fell to Zeeland and Ann Arbor Huron in water polo action over the weekend.

The Saline boys' water polo team won two of four games at the Birmingham Invitational Friday and Saturday.

Saline lost to Ann Arbor Huron, 14-6, and Zeeland, 10-9. The Hornets earned victories against Birmingham Seaholm, 14-8, and Grand Haven, 16-11.

Saline opened Friday with a loss to Ann Arbor Huron.

Huron pumped in eight goals in the first period and led 13-2 at halftime. Lucas Allen scored three goals and James Fisher scored twice. Michael Bundas added a goal. Will McCullough made three saves and had three steals. Louis Remenapp and Tom Wallas each had three steals and an assist.

Saline bounced back Saturday against Seaholm.

Fisher scored 7 goals and Allen added four goals for Saline. Remenapp added two markers and Matt Lund scored once. Saline led 3-2 after the first period and broke the game open by outscoring Seaholm 4-1 in the second period. McCullough made seven saves and had three assists for Saline. Allen had five assists and five steals. Remenapp and Fisher each had four steals.

Later Saturday, a rocky start cost Saline against Zeeland. The Hornets were down 3-0 after the first period and lost 10-9. Fisher had five goals and eight steals. Allen had three goals and five steals. Bundas also scored. McCullough had three steals and eight saves for Saline. Walls also came up with three steals.

Saline finished the tournament on a winning note, unloading with a 16-goal outburst against Grand Haven. Fisher had seven goals and five steals. Allen scored five times and added four assists and three steals. Remenapp scored twice and had four steals. Bundas had a goal and three steals. Walls also scored for Saline. McCullough made six saves and had two steals.

Saline was down 3-2 after the first period but responded with a seven-goal second period to take control of the game.
