Slawson: School Board Trustees Each Adopt A School

Each member of the Saline Area Schools board has adopted a building for 2012.

Hoping to do more to highlight the positive things that happen at and to gain a better understanding of the challenges faced at each building, each member of the board of education has "adopted" a building for 2012.

School board president Lisa Slawson said she hopes each board member becomes a champion for their adopted school.

"For the longest time, boards have been proactive instead of reactive," said Slawson. "I think it's important that we, as a board, celebrate all of the great things that go on the buildings. There is great cooperation between teachers, parents and students in our schools. As board members, we should get out there and see four ourselves."
