Student Group Hosts School Board Candidates Forum Tuesday Night
The forum takes place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Liberty School Media Center.

Candidates running for the board of education will be questioned at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the media center at .
The forum is sponsored by a Saline High School student group known as STRIVE (Students Re-Investing in a Valuable Education).
Candidates David Friese, David Holden, Patti Tanner and David Zimmer are expected to attend the 90-minute forum. There are two seats open in the Nov. 8 election.
Aaron Mukerjee, a senior and member of STRIVE, explained the why students are holding the forum.

"The reason students are taking such a keen interest in the forum is because we feel that, as the largest constituency in the district (and the reason for the existence of the district), students should be able to ask questions that are pertinent to them," Mukerjee said. "We hope that the forum will raise issues that students find important as well as make voters aware of the candidates' views on these issues."
Mukerjee said that each candidate would receive a minute to make an opening statement. Students will ask eight general questions of the candidates. Candidates will be given the opportunity to ask two candidate-specific questions each, as well.

Each candidate will also make closing statements.
