VIDEO: SHS Culinary Students Warm Oktoberfest With Chili

Students Juliana Viggiano, Ali Brennan, Kaitlyn Roakes, Alexis Crane and Kailey Kermath won the Oktoberfest chili-cookoff, with a little help from Fire Chief Craig Hoeft.

The Saline High School Culinary Arts Department and Saline Area Fire Department teamed up for the annual Oktoberfest chili cook-off Saturday in downtown Saline.

Patrons paid $5 to sample the chili, which was made by culinary arts students at the high school. Members of the Saline Area Fire Department provided helpful hints to the students.

The cook-off was judged by Saline Area School Schools Superintendent Scot Graden, Saline Middle School Principal David Raft, and local chili expert Dan Kolander, owner of Dan's Downtown Tavern.
