Stony Creek has a packed June lineup of family fun events at the park.

First Friday Night Canoe

Friday, June 3, 10 and 17 at 8 p.m. at Mt. Vernon Picnic Area, Boat Rental Building.  The Voyageurs and beaver pelts affected the course of Michigan history.  Join a park interpreter to paddle a 34-foot canoe to discover a bit of history and Stony Creek Lake life.  

Ages: 6 and up

Fee: $4 per person; preregistration is required and begins the Friday two weeks prior to the event at 9 a.m.

Strawberries, Ice Cream & Blue Skies Campfire Program

Saturday, June 11 at 7:30 p.m., Nature Center.  The red, white and blue of nature will be the theme of this program.  Join in for songs around a campfire and ice cream with strawberry toppings.  Best of all, the program and ice cream are free!  Preregistration required. 

 Full Moon Canoe–The Strawberry Moon

Wednesday, June 15 at 8 p.m., Mt. Vernon Picnic Area.  Join an interpreter to learn about the strawberry moon on this guided canoe trip, followed by a themed snack.

Ages: 8 and up

Fee: $3 per person; preregistration required. 

Father’s Day Wagon Rides & Hot Dogs

Sunday, June 19 from noon-2 p.m., Nature Center. Take dad out for a wagon ride, and then enjoy a hot dog roast.

Fee: $5 per person; dads free! Preregistration required.

 Nature’s Child Day Camp

Monday, June 20 thru Wednesday, June 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day, Nature Center. Kids will wade in a stream, catch a fish, take a tractor-drawn wagon ride, go critter catchin’ and paddle a 34-foot-long canoe.  These are just a few of the activities offered.  Lunch will be provided each day.

Ages: 8 to 12

Fee: $95 per child; preregistration required, beginning May 15. 

 Blast Off–Make a Rocket

Sunday, June 26 at 1 p.m., Nature Center.  Each family will work together to build and decorate their own model rocket.  The rockets are yours to take home and launch again and again;  space is limited.  This family program is not for scout groups. 

Fee: $15 for families of five or fewer; add $2 for each additional person.  Preregistration required.
