Crime Brief: Woman Flees After Damaging Vehicle, GPS Stolen From Car

Police are investigating a case of larceny from a vehicle and a personal property damage claim.

A 21-year-old man filed a property damage report on Feb. 7 after he said a woman scratched his Jeep and drove away.

The man said he was sitting in his parked vehicle in the parking lot on 25 Mile Road just before 2 p.m. when a woman opened the door of a blue Subaru hatchback that was parked to the right of him and struck his vehicle.

The 21-year-old man told police that the woman opened the door two more times, striking his vehicle each time.

When the man confronted the woman, whom he described as white, heavy-set with black hair and in her late 30s to early 40s, and told her he was going to contact the police, she drove away.

The man said the incident left six scratches on his passenger door.

Items Stolen From Vehicle

A 42-year-old man told police that several items were stolen from his vehicle overnight on Feb. 6 as it was parked in his driveway on the 5100 block of Woodberry Street.

The man told police that when he went out to his 2002 Pontiac Grand Am the next morning, he discovered his winter jacket, two jewelry boxes, a briefcase, GPS, engineering tools and a box of pictures were gone.

The man told police that he was positive he locked the car doors the night before, but there were no signs of forced entry.
