Veterans Memorial Paver Brick Brochures Now Available
Brochures are now available to purchase new pavers that will be installed at the Shelby Township Veterans Memorial.
Veterans, their families and members of the community can now purchase new engraved pavers for Shelby Township's Veterans Memorial.
The new pavers were part of a series of enhancements that were recently announced by Shelby Township Veterans Events Coordinator Phil Randazzo following aΒ $25,000 donation from Sunoco Logistics.
βWeβre going to use these funds to enhance our memorial the only way I know how, and thatβs honoring our fallen soldiers and helping our veterans and military families remember their brothers and sisters and sons and daughters,β said Randazzo, a combat veteran who earned two Purple Hearts and two Bronze Stars in Vietnam, in a blog post on Patch.

According to the township, the new pavers will be lighter and will have theΒ names of private donors and businesses. The existing pavers will be replaced at no cost to the original donors, and the old pavers will be made available to donors at the Parks and Recreation and Maintenance Department.
βWe are blessed with a very proud military community in Shelby Township, and many members of that community have supported our memorial by purchasing pavers,β Township Supervisor Rick Stathakis said in the blog post.

βUnfortunately, over time, many of those pavers have weathered and left engravings unreadable. This enhancement will replace those weathered tributes and add another level of distinction to pavers purchased by veterans and military families.β
The cost to add engraved pavers honoring veterans and active military remains the same: 4-inch by 8-inch bricks cost $100 and single 8-inch square pavers cost $200. Pavers are available through the Township Supervisorβs Office at 52700 Van Dyke Ave.
Paver program proceeds help fund Memorial Day and Veterans Day programs and memorial maintenance.
Paver brochures are available at the township hall, or by printing out the attached PDF.
