VIDEO: Shelby Township VFW Reacts to Bin Laden's Death
A member of the Shelby Township VFW said this was a good day for the world. Others also shared their points of view.
Shelby Township veterans expressed their points of view on the death of Osama bin Laden Monday, a day after the president told the country the terrorist leader was killed.
“Today is a good day," said Bill Dobbie of the Shelby Township VFW Post 4659. He is also a member of the VFW National Council of Administration. “A very bad person is no longer walking around."
It’s been nearly 10 years since 9/11 and since Operation Enduring Freedom was launched in Afghanistan. According to iCasualities.com 1,420 U.S. soldiers died in Afghanistan since the war was launched, two were from Shelby Township.

A marble memorial outside of the Shelby Township VFW Hall 4659 bears the names of two of the fallen Shelby Township soldiers, Pfc. Mark A. Barbret, Pfc. Tarryl B. Hill and Pfc. Christopher D. Kube of Sterling Heights.
"We have to be very careful not to forget their deaths," Dobbie said.
