Kuras, who was the son of Ulp's ex-boyfriend, was 7 years old, according to prosecutors.

Prosecutors then charged Ulp with felony murder and another trial got underway last month. The trial lasted six weeks and she was ultimately convicted of felony murder.

She faces up to life in prison and is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 28, 2025.

"I hope today’s verdict brings some measure of justice for the innocent child whose life was tragically cut short," Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido said. "This case is a reminder of the responsibility we all share in protecting our most vulnerable. The defendant’s actions were not only criminal but unconscionable, and the jury’s decision reflects the severity of her crimes."
