Traffic Deaths Down In Macomb County

While deaths were down for the first seven months, the number of injuries related to crashes was up, a traffic group says.

MACOMB COUNTY, MI — The number of traffic fatalities in Macomb County are down for the first seven months of 2017, but the number of accident injuries is up slightly. A total of 22 people have died as a result of car and motorcycle crashes while the number of injuries jumped 2.4 percent, according to a Macomb Daily report.

“Statistics show in 2016, a total of 58 people were killed in 55 accidents. That compares to 53 people who lost their lives in 50 crashes in 2015. The Traffic Safety Association is a non-governmental, non-profit public service group that works with a variety of organizations to improve traffic safety.”
“Although the report does not break down the accidents by cause, traffic safety experts say many of the fatalities are linked to distractions driver face. Texting while driving along with alcohol use are the most common causes cited by safety officials.”
