Two House Fires On Back To Back Days In St. Clair Shores
The St. Clair Shores Fire Department reports that an unattended candle sparked one blaze.

ST. CLAIR SHORES, MI — The St. Clair Shores Fire Department is reminding residents to check their smoke detectors after fires roared through two St. Clair Shores houses on back to back days, according to a press release.
An unattended candle reportedly sparked a house fire on Jan. 9. The St. Clair Shores Fire and Police Departments, along with the Roseville Fire Department, responded to a home in the 28000 block of Ursuline.
Residents were home when the fire broke out and called 911. Firefighters contained the fire with heavy flames to that a bedroom however, the first floor interior of the structure suffered smoke damage. One resident was taken away by an ambulance for smoke inhalation and no firefighters were injured.

Just one day earlier, on Jan. 8, the St. Clair Shores Fire and Police Departments, along with the Eastpointe Fire Department, were dispatched to a house in the 20000 block of Maxine. Smoke detectors woke up the sleeping residents, allowing everyone - including the pet - to escape.
Residents told the Fire Department that they lit a fire in the fireplace and put it out before going to bed. The Fire Department reports the blaze originated in the chimney. The entire structure suffered smoke damage and the 2nd floor sustained fire damage.
