DTE Energy Cleans Up Local Intersection

Residents no longer have to stare at plastic pipeline markers and broken wooden bollards at the intersection of West Jefferson Avenue and Grosse Ile Parkway.

A recent effort by DTE Energy has spruced up the intersection of West Jefferson Avenue and Grosse Ile Parkway.

Before Friday, drivers stopped at the intersection were forced to stare at plastic pipeline markers and broken wooden bollards, but the days of uninspiring traffic light surroundings are long gone.

Now, citizens can feast their eyes on new landscaping including native flowers, trees and other plants, a bench and a new sign informing drivers the direction of Grosse Ile.

The beautification initiative is all part of DTE's Trenton Channel Power Plant's Wildlife Habitat Council certification program, in an effort to restore wildlife habitat at the plant.

The bench located at the site will be a place for people to rest near bike paths created for the Downriver Linked Greenways initiative.
