Exclusive Lighthouse Tour Coming to Grosse Ile

The Grosse Ile Historical Society's Annual Lighthouse Tour is slated for Sept. 9 and includes an optional ride aboard the Diamond Queen.

In honor of the opening of the Livingstone Channel in 1912, a Diamond Queen boat tour is available in addition to this year's lighthouse tour. The Diamond Queen will travel down the channel, around the Detroit River Lighthouse and past the Grosse Ile Light.
After filling up on rich history at the Grosse Ile Light, 25 Guests will hop aboard the Diamond Queen and enjoy a light meal, cash bar and a guided tour by Robert Gauthier, a retired employee of the Army Corp of Engineers.

Tours of the Grosse Ile Light are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m. for those taking the boat tour.
Tickets prices are $45 for the lighthouse and boat tour and $40 for the boat tour only.
The Diamond Queen tour departs Bishop Park in Wyandotte at 3:30 p.m. Boarding begins at 3 p.m.
Those unwilling to brave the mighty Detroit River can enjoy a final tour of the Grosse Ile Light at 2 p.m. Tickets will be sold the day of the event, but historical society officials encourage people to purchase tickets in advance due to limited availability.
Tickets for the Grosse Ile Light tour only are $10 for adults and $8 for children 17 and under.
