Food Drive Being Held July 1st at St. Philip-Trenton

With the need for food Downriver continuing to grow, local Thrivent representatives, Danielle and Nick Kerns, will be sponsoring a food drive at St. Philip Lutheran Church (1790 Fort Street, Trenton, MI 48183) on Friday, July 1st from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. All food donations will go to St. Philip’s Food Pantry.

St. Philip Food Pantry is a long-standing ministry that provides food for needy people in the Downriver area. Right now, there is a need for non-perishable food items, especially cereal, condiments, and canned meat. If you can help out, please stop by St. Philip and drop off food donations on July 1st. Also, if you cannot make it on July 1st, please contact the church office at 734.676-7141 or stphilipelca@gmail.com and they will gladly make arrangements for another time and date for a food drop-off.

Thrivent is a Fortune 500 financial services organization that helps people achieve financial clarity, enabling lives full of meaning and gratitude. “Thrivent is pleased to be part of St. Philip’s food drive to benefit needy families,” said Danielle Kerns, Thrivent Financial Representative. “For every non-perishable food item donated, Thrivent Member Networks Great Lakes Region will donate $3 per item up to $3,000 to St. Philip Lutheran Church.”

St. Philip Lutheran Church is located along the southbound side of Fort Street near Harrison and its food pantry is open Wednesday’s from 11 AM till 2 PM. St. Philip is also the distribution site for the federal food program in Trenton. Every second Wednesday of the month is “commodities day” when U.S. Department of Agriculture foods are distributed through the food pantry.

St. Philip is not only helping meet the hunger needs Downriver, but it is a congregation that freely shares God’s love with all. Worship service is on Sunday at 10:30 AM.
