Trenton Coach: Teamwork is the Secret to Basketball Team's Success

The Trenton High School boys basketball team has dominated all season with an overall record of 12-3 and 9-2 in the Downriver League.

"The success of our team this year is because this is a team," Coach Rick Morrow said. "They compliment each other."

Morrow coaches boys varsity basketball at Trenton High School and this has been one of his best seasons in years. The Trojans are 12-3 overall and 9-2 in the Downriver League.

Morrow said superior defense and intelect also adds to this season's winning recipe.

"This is an extremely smart team," Morrow said.

The average grade point average on the team is above 3.6 and senior captians Dan Hall, Dan Mercure and Jason Zahran have already begun sniffing around colleges.

Morrow said Hall is major points contributor who has signed with Madonna University and has been a 4-year starter on varsity. Mercure is a 3-year letter winner and is hoping to go to the United States Air Force Academy. Jason Zahran is the teams top scorer with a 4.0 grade point average.

Morrow believes his team is as good as anyone in the area. He said it doens't which team the Trojans face in the coming district contest.

"We have to go thru everyone, take no one for granted and continue playing at the level we have achieved," Morrow said. "Hopefully, things go well."

The Trojans have four games remianing in the regular season. They take on the Lincoln Park Railsplitters at 7 p.m. Feb. 19 at home.
