Trenton Salon Owner Celebrates New Expansion
Trenton Mayor Kyle Stack attended a ribbon

With oversized scissors in hand, Trenton Mayor Kyle Stack attended a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday for a local salon that recently expanded.
Kimberly Mott, owner of , stood along side Stack as together they cut a long blue ribbon signifying a grand re-opening of the local hair salon and day spa.
Mott has been working in the salon business for several years and began leasing her current location on West Road in 2006. Last year, Mott started remodeling the space next door in anticipation of an expansion.

"The last couple years our salon has grown tremendously and this past year we grew over 12 percent," Mott said. "So, we had the opportunity to expand the salon again."
Mott said her business has been growing since she opened her first salon in 1996 in the , where she was the only stylist.

Mott now has 15 stations, four pedicure stations, five shampoo areas and two massage rooms that allow for couples massages.
The salon also works closely with salon brand Redken. Through Redken, Mott said she and her stylists stay up-to-date with the latest fashions out of New York and Las Vegas.
The space next door to Colors By Kim once held The Gallery Deli, which closed in 2010. Mott took advantage of the opportunity to expand her constantly growing salon in July 2011.
Construction took just under a year and now customers enter through a door closer to West Road and are greeted by a large reception desk and friendly staff members.
Though the recent expansion now allows Mott and her staff to handle several new customers, she said she has no intention of slowing down.
"Even though it's a 15 station salon, we want to increase it to at least 25 women behind the chairs," Mott said. "The girls are just all doing great. The salon's doing awesome."
Stack said she was happy to see a local business finding success.
"That's what I like," Stack said.
