VIDEO: Local Woman Adopted a Cemetery
Trenton resident Pattie has decided to take it upon herself to make sure a cemetery stays clean and well manicured.
Pattie is a concerned citizen who is looking out for former citizens by adopting The Old Burial Ground on the corner of Fifth Street and West Jefferson Avenue. The cemetery has been maintained by the city since 2006, but recent budget cuts have made it difficult to keep the property maintained.
The chaplain of the Ladies Auxiliary and Trenton American Legion member, Pattie had decided to care for the old cemetery by making it her unofficial responsibility.
Pattie requested to adopt the cemetery at a recent city council meeting and her request was approved.

Pattie wanted to put the word out that she is willing to accept any offer to help her fix up the declining cemetery. She hopes local hardware stores might help her by offering her special pricing on items like dirt and gravel.
Although Pattie is credited with the idea, she is backed by the American Legion Post 426, 2423 West Jefferson. Contact the American Legion at 734-675-4744.
