Accountant Turned Massage Therapist Celebrates New Business in Troy
Transformation Wellness Center owner Kim Conniff gains satisfaction from offering 'complimentary and alternative medicine' in Troy.

Lingering injuries caused by a car accident bothered Kim Conniff for years. After visiting physical therapists and chiropractors to no avail, she started researching alternative medicine in spare time away from her job as a certified public accountant.
Now, some 12 years after the accident which caused her pain, she's in a new field—passing her skills and knowledge on to others from Transformation Wellness Center in Troy.
The business she runs at 1147 E. Long Lake Rd., east of Rochester (Ste. 2, in Long Lake Plaza) has served a varied clientele from all over Metro Detroit since opening last September, said Conniff, a licensed massage therapist.

Conniff said that she's found a successful home in Troy, giving thanks to the Troy Chamber of Commerce at a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday. "We love it here. It's convenient, it's close to freeways, and the Chamber has helped us a lot in getting settled," she said.
A wide range of "complimentary and alternative" medical practices designed to benefit the mind, body and spirit are offered at the cozy facility. The office is marked with calm colors, a full bookshelf and art, clearly suggesting a different ideal from that of conventional Western medicine.

It's also a clear change of lifestyle for Conniff. However, as she's now feeling healthy and happy in her new career, it's a self-satisfying practice.
"When you can help someone conquer their wellness challenges, there's no more-satisfying feeling," she said.
