Community Center Available as 'Cooling Center' in Extreme Heat

Residents can find relief from the summer heat free of charge at the Troy Community Center.

The City of Troy is offering its as a cooling center for residents who may have a power outage or similar emergency or just need a place to beat the heat during extreme weather conditions.

"The extreme high temperatures, humidity and heat indexes are tough on our community, especially for those residents who lose their electricity or do not have air conditioning,” Community Affairs Director Cindy Stewart said. “The Community Center can provide a short-term refuge for those who may need it.”

The Troy Community Center is open weekdays from 5:30 a.m.-10 p.m., Saturday from 7 a.m.-8 p.m. and Sundays from 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m.

All recreation areas of the facility, including the pool, gymnasium, and fitness areas, are only open to members.  Daily passes are available during operating hours.

The Troy Community Center is located at 3179 Livernois, just north of Big Beaver.
