Clawson Man Arrested After Driving Drunk with Young Son

The following information was obtained from the Troy Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A 6-year-old Clawson boy was placed in his mother's custody after Troy Police arrested the boy's father on a charge of operating while intoxicated as the boy was in the front passenger seat.

The 44-year-old father was reported to Troy Police at about 9:10 p.m. by a concerned citizen after exiting Interstate-75 at 14 Mile Road. Officers found the man's car at 14 Mile and Stephenson Highway, driving partially in the left lane and partially in the center turn lane.

The man was stopped and officers reported that he smelled of intoxicants and had slurred speech. He failed all five sobriety tests, breath testing at .16 percent, or twice the legal limit of .08. He was arrested and faces both operating while intoxicated and child endangerment charges.
