Clawson-Troy Optimist Club Wins As County Official Walks Away with 2013 Count Your Steps Title

On September 19, 2013, Oakland County Commissioners will present a $400 check to President Rocco Romano from the Clawson-Troy Optimist Club as a result of Commissioner Mike Bosnic winning the Third Annual “Commissioners Count Your Steps Charity Competition.”
This year’s challenge began among the following Commissioners: Mike Bosnic, John A. Scott, Phil Weipert and Board Vice Chairman Jeff Matis, who competed admirably. They each recorded their steps during Oakland County’s “Count Your Steps” Initiative, which were tracked with pedometers. For the charity challenge, they each pledged a $100 contribution to the charity of choice for the Commissioner who logged the most steps.
Oakland County Commissioner Mike Bosnic won the challenge after recording 341,706 steps on his pedometer, Commissioner Philip J. Weipert recorded 304,531 steps, Commissioner John A. Scott accumulated 248,236 steps and Commissioner Jeff Matis came in fourth. Bosnic overcame a 10,000 step deficit to Commissioner Weipert entering the final week of the competition to earn back-to-back titles for a second consecutive year.

Following in the tradition of his predecessor, Former Commissioner Chuck Palmer, who funded many scholarships for this group throughout the years, Bosnic expressed his commitment by stating, “I am happy to try to follow in his footsteps.”
