Troy Police Respond to Stranger Danger Incident and More

A 9-year-old boy reports being approached by strangers while riding his bicycle.

The following information was obtained from the Troy Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Suspicious incidents

A 9-year-old boy told police that he was riding his bicycle at the 5000 block of Buckingham at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday when a black SUV pulled up next to him. Someone in the SUV asked the boy if he wanted a candy bar and then said, "if you want this candy bar you have to come in the car." The boy immediately rode away. The vehicle is described as a black SUV with a rear spare tire occupied by four men.

Larcenies

  • A homeowner on the 6000 block of Norton Drive reports that an envelope containing an outgoing check for bill payment was stolen from her mailbox between March 13-14. 
  • A complete power ventilator exhaust fan and the motor only from a second exhaust fan were stolen from the roof of the restaurant. Items were stolen from the roof of Café Sushi (1933 W. Maple Rd., Troy), including a complete power ventilator exhaust fan and the motor only from a second exhaust fan. The incident is believed to have taken place between 11:30 p.m. on Sunday and 10 a.m. on Monday.
  • A man filed a report that his Apple iPhone and $200 cash were stolen from his gym locker at Troy Community Center on Monday, between 8-9:30 p.m. The locker had been secured with a combination lock.

Malicious destruction of property

A car lock on a Pontiac G3 parked at Troy Officentre (340 E. Big Beaver Rd., Troy) was punched out. The incident took place on Tuesday between 3:50 p.m.-12:05 a.m. Nothing was stolen from the vehicle. The damage likely occupied during an unsuccessful attempt to steal the car, police said.
