Driver Found With Drugs, Troy Police Say

The following information about police incidents is taken directly from the most recent Troy Police Department media releases.

Drugs/narcotics

Dequindre Road and Winter Drive, Sept. 10, 12:40 p.m.: Troy officers were dispatched to a traffic crash. The responsible driver had a suspended driver’s license. The driver was arrested and when the officers checked her purse during booking procedures they discovered Vicodin and Adderall in pill bottles without prescription labels. The driver, a 26-year-old from Dearborn Heights was charged with driving while license suspended, possession of prescription drugs, and disobeying a traffic signal.

Auto/vehicle thefts 

900 block of Harris, Sept. 5-9, 5 p.m.: Complainant advised his utility/snowmobile trailer was stolen from the rear of the business. The trailer was valued at $8,000.

901 Wilshire, Sept. 10, 9 a.m. to 12 noon: Complainant advised he parked his 2004 Dodge Ram pickup in the lot. When he returned, the vehicle was missing. Complainant was still in possession of the keys and advised no one had permission to take his pickup.

Credit, check, identity theft, other fraud

3000 block of Dominique, Sept. 6, 9 a.m.: Resident advised she was contacted regarding a Sprint account in her name, which was in collection for a balance of $1,179.54. Resident advised this was not her account, nor did anyone have permission to have an account in her name.

Billhighway, 363 W. Big Beaver Rd., Sept. 1, 12 noon: Complainant discovered two unauthorized charges to Match.com in the amount of $34.99 to the business’ American Express credit card. Complainant advised no one had authorization to charge on the account.

Driving under influence of alcohol/drugs

East Maple and Research, Sept. 10, 2:16 a.m.: Troy officers stopped a vehicle after observing it drift out of its lane and crossing the double yellow lines. The driver had bloodshot glassy eyes and an odor of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle. The driver, a 22-year-old from Warren failed field sobrieties and was arrested for operating while intoxicated. Breath test results were .09 percent.

John R Road and East Maple Road, Sept. 10, 9:04 p.m.: Troy officers were dispatched to a possible drunk driver. Witnesses stated the vehicle was swerving and ran a red light. Officers located the vehicle and observed it swerving. The driver had bloodshot glassy eyes and a strong odor of alcohol coming from inside the vehicle. The driver admitted to drinking and failed field sobrieties. The driver, a 72-year-old from Troy was arrested for operating while intoxicated. Breath test results were .14 percent.

E. Big Beaver Road and Rochester Road, Sept. 10, 11:03 p.m.: Troy officers were dispatched to a traffic accident. The responsible driver appeared confused and didn’t know where he was. The driver admitted to drinking and failed field sobrieties. The driver, a 29-year-old from Clinton Township was arrested for operating while intoxicated. Breath test results were .08 percent.

Home invasions

1000 block of Dorchester, Aug. 28 to Sept. 10, 12 noon: Resident advised he went on vacation and when he returned he found his apartment had been ransacked. Resident advised the screen had been cut and entry was made through his sliding glass door-wall. Resident stated the only thing missing were Mont Blanc pens valued at $1,000.

Larcenies

1000 block of Cadmus, Sept. 9-10, 6 p.m. to 3 p.m.: Resident advised the locked trailer parked in her driveway was broken in to with lawn equipment being stolen. The value of the equipment was $1,825.

Retail fraud 

Macy’s, 500 W. Fourteen Mile Rd., Sept. 9, 3:08 p.m.: Loss prevention advised the suspect was observed selecting a pair of Levi’s and a Lions shirt, removing them from the hanger and placing them in a shopping bag the suspect was carrying. The suspect left the store failing to pay for the merchandise. Loss prevention stopped the suspect and recovered the merchandise valued at $210. The suspect, an 18-year-old from Hazel Park was arrested for third-degree retail fraud.
