Detroit New Year's Eve 2016 Celebration Has Something For All Ages

Campus Martius and Cadillac Square will host Motor City NYE 2017 featuring activities for all ages leading up to the ball drop at midnight.

DETROIT, MI — New Year's Eve is four days away - and counting. If you're looking for plans, Detroit has a big night in store for you: The Drop 2017 !

What exactly is "The Drop" you wonder? It's when Campus Martius and Cadillac Square become New Year's Eve headquarters on Dec. 31, and host the Meridian Motor City NYE 2017.

The Drop is free and features activities including: live entertainment on two main stages, local restaurants/vendors/food trucks, ice skating at Campus Martius (the rink's New Year's Eve hours: 11 a.m. Dec. 31, 2016 t0 1 a.m. Jan. 1, 2017), and an 11,000 square feet heated Grand Celebration Party Pavilion tent with a stage showcasing live bands and DJs, and a bar selling cocktails, beer and non-alcoholic beverages. Note: The tent is free and family friendly until 7:00 p.m. Then, you can buy a ticket to the Motown Countdown VIP Party at 8:00 p.m.

The event will offer activities from 4:00 p.m. on Dec. 31 to 1:00 a.m. on Jan. 1. Below are a few times to note. Happy 2017!

4:00 p.m. Kids' Zone opens which will feature activities, games and face painting.

6:30 p.m. The Kids' Drop! This is a ball drop for the kiddos who won't be staying up for the midnight ball drop.

Midnight: Happy New Year! The big moment you've been waiting for all night - AKA 'The Drop'!
