Fast Casual Mediterranean Chain To Open Outlet In Troy

A national Mediterranean food chain will open locations in Troy, Detroit, Warren, Canton and Ann Arbor.

A New York City restaurant chain focused on fast casual Mediterranean food will open five locations in Metro Detroit and Ann Arbor this summer. Hummus & Pita Co Franchisee Chirag Modi has firm plans for the outlets, including one at Oakland Mall, Southeast Michigan, according to Crain’s Detroit Business.

CBRE Group Inc., a California firm, is managing lease negotiations the outlets. Depending on the location, each new Hummus & Pita Co restaurant will range from 1,600 to 2,400 square feet. Each outlet will need 20 full-and part-time workers, according to Dave Pesso, one of the NYC-based chain’s owners.

The Hummus & Pita’s offers fresh ingredients at each outlet, which on-site chefs use to create a menu featuring steak taboon, fresh pita and laffa bread and, of course, hummus, including “dessert hummus,” a new idea even in Metro Detroit where Mediterranean restaurants are common.
