Fatal Crash in Commerce Township Under Investigation

Oakland County Sheriff's Office deputies say driver in fatal Commerce Township crash may have suffered a medical emergency.

TROY, MI — A fatal crash is under investigation in Commerce Township.

On Nov. 2 at approximately 4:41 p.m., Oakland County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a call in the area of Cooley Lake Rd. near Glade St., according to a press release.

Authorities say a 63-year-old male, of Commerce Township, was driving a 2015 Chevrolet pickup westbound on Cooley Lake Rd. when it crossed into oncoming traffic, drifted to the south side of Cooley Lake Rd. and drove off the road and into a tree. The Commerce Township Fire Department rushed the driver to Huron Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office Crash Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene and it appears no alcohol or drugs were responsible for the crash. Investigators say the driver may have suffered a medical emergency prior to the accident. The crash remains under investigation.
