Father Forgets Baby in Car at Troy PetSmart

Troy Police officers responded Monday evening to a report of an infant left in its car seat alone in a vehicle in the Troy  parking lot.

The father exited the store before officers arrived and waited at the scene along with the witnesses. According to a media release from the , the father said he rarely had the baby in the car with him but had taken the baby to the store so his wife could have a break.

Officers observed the baby sleeping in the vehicle and noted in the report that the father seemed sincere when he said he'd forgotten the baby was in the car. 

The matter has been referred to Children's Protective Services.
