Hey, Kids β Spring Break in Troy Means Discounts and Freebies
Local businesses and organizations are offering discounted and free activities to keep kids occupied the week of April 1.

Spring break for Troy Schools officially starts Friday, and several local businesses and organizations are offering discounted, cheap or free things for kids in grades 6-12 to do next week.
"Spring Break Troy Style was created to provide alternative activities for middle school and high school students," according to literature from the event sponsors, including the Troy Community Coalition, Recreation Department, and School District. "Teens Taking Action (TTA) members work year-round creating alternative activities and educating their peers on the dangers of using drugs, alvohol and tobacco products."
Highlights of "Spring Break Troy Style" (April 1-6) include discounts at local restaurants in the Somerset Collection, Day of Tournaments atΒ Zion Christian Church, special discounts atΒ Skate World of TroyΒ andΒ Troy LanesΒ and the 8th Annual Laser Quest Overnighter.

The event atΒ Laser QuestΒ in Madison Heights is from 11:30 p.m.-6 a.m. onΒ April 6 and features six hours of heart-pounding laser quest action, snacks and a continental breakfast, all for $35.Β To register, visit Laser Quest (31401 John R Rd.) or call 248-616-9292.

- Bowling atΒ Troy LanesΒ andΒ Bowl One:Β BowlΒ from 12 noon-5 p.m. on Monday through Friday for $1.25 per game (shoe rental is 99 cents).
- Community CenterΒ Activities:Β The Troy Community Center is offering a special $10 Spring Break Pass for the week or a daily pass for $4. Amenities include open gym, pool and fitness rooms. The teen Room will be open with 72-inch TV, pool table, foosball, air hockey, and music.
- Pick-up basketball at Joe Dumars Fieldhouse: Play from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday for $5. Also, the Bayou Adventure Center will be open from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday through Saturday offering discounts on a number of activity packages.Β
- Day of TournamentsΒ atΒ Zion Christian Church: On April 5, there will be 4-on-4 volleyball, dodgeball, 3-on-3 basketball, euchre and cash prizes. Call 248-524-2400 for more information.
