Hundreds Still Without Power in Troy as Triple-Digit Heat Looms
Temperatures will likely exceed 100 degrees Friday as DTE Energy works to restore power to thousands of southeast Michigan homes and businesses.

As temperatures are expected to soar into the triple digits Friday, more than 400 homes in Troy are still without power early Friday morning – down from more than 800 affected homes on Thursday.
In southeast Michigan, more than 110,000 customers are still without power – , when additional storms moved through the area, DTE spokeswoman Eileen Dixon said Thursday afternoon.
DTE Energy expects power to most residents in southeast Michigan to be restored "by the end of the weekend," DTE spokesman Alejandro Bodipo-Memba told WXYZ Thursday night.

DTE Energy spokesman Scott Simons said the utility company had reduced the outage number from Tuesday's storms to 17,000 before a Wednesday evening storm hit, followed by what DTE experienced as the most severe storm of the week that night. To help with repairs, DTE has recalled 100 linemen who were sent to Ohio to help with repairs after storms there last week.

The National Weather Service in Pontiac is predicting a high temperature of 101 and heat indices of 106 degrees or higher Friday, prompting the weather service to issue an excessive heat warning for southeast Michigan, which remains in effect for Troy and surrounding areas until 9 p.m. Friday. An air quality alert is also in effect for southeast Michigan through Friday.
