Letter to the Editor: Supporting Dane Slater for Mayor
The viewpoints in these letters are those of the writers, and Patch is not responsible for any ideas portrayed as facts.

This letter was sent to Patch by Linda Kajma.
Troy voters will be faced with a very important decision next month. They will be asked to keep Mayor Dane Slater, or elect someone new. Once again our city will be inundated with campaign literature (fact and fiction) and numerous social media posts (fact and fiction.)
As a citizen, you have the right to vote to elect your future representatives. This right is often taken for granted and treated quite “shabbily.” By this I mean that many voters cast their ballot with no inkling whatsoever about the background, character and qualifications of the candidates in general. (Not to mention the potential consequences of their choice.) Many depend on others to tell them who is the best choice, while many just pick a name that sounds good. This can, and has, led to the election of those who have no experience, no qualifications, or a personal agenda. We have seen this in Troy and took steps to correct the same. Let’s not do this again. We are moving forward.

Voters of Troy, do your own due diligence and look at the big picture. What does the candidate bring to the table? We have all heard that you are judged by the company you keep. Look into the candidates and see who their supporters are. Put partisanship aside and look at what the candidates past history is and what their personal plans are for the future, as well as for the city’s future. Do they have the skills to listen, mediate, and put their own agenda aside? Do they have the dedication?
Troy is at a point where the council is working quite well together and addressing the pertinent issues. Let’s not undo what has been accomplished. I’m voting to keep Mayor Slater and I hope you will too.
