Livernois Resurfacing Project to Start April 22

Expect delays from road closures between Long Lake and Avon roads in Troy and Rochester Hills.

The following information was provided in a press release.

The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) expects its contractor to begin work on the resurfacing of Livernois Road, between Long Lake and Avon roads in Troy and Rochester Hills, on about April 22.

The project will involve removing the top layer of the existing asphalt in some places on this 4.83-mile segment of Livernois Road, applying 1.5 inches of new asphalt as well as replacing the concrete curbs, gutters, sidewalks and crosswalk ramps. Additionally, crosswalk ramps will be updated to comply with the federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

The road will remain open during the project, but there will be lane closures and motorists should expect delays. The road is expected to be fully open to traffic by June 7.

The contractor for the job is Ajax Paving Industries Inc. of Troy.

The project is expected to cost approximately $1.24 million. The project is being paid for entirely with federal funds.
