Local Store Owner Convicted of Selling Alcohol to Minor

The owner of Super City Smokers Express faces possible fines after Troy Police officers caught him selling alcohol to a minor.

Joseph Clement Harris, owner of in Troy, was convicted Wednesday of selling alcohol to a minor after a surveillance operation by uncovered three incidents of minors being sold alcohol in one day in July. Harris appeared before Judge Kirsten Nielson Hartig in 52nd District Court — 4th Division.

Harris is also awaiting trial for two more charges of selling alcohol to a minor after Troy Police officers at the store on two separate dates in November, according to Officer Andy Breidenich, public information officer for the department.

Harris faces possible fines after Wednesday's conviction. If Harris is convicted in all three incidents, he could face additional fines and revocation of his business' Liquor Control Commission license, Breidenich said.
