New Troy Subdivision Snags Approval

A new development will see 59 high-end homes built near John R and Big Beaver roads.

TROY, MI — A new residential development in Troy will preserve wetlands and several landmark trees. A total of 59 high-end homes will be built on a parcel formerly owned by the Troy School District, north of Big Beaver Road and west of John R , after recently getting Troy city council approval. An acre of state-regulated wetland will be undisturbed and two landmark trees will remain in the development.

“There will be a new private road extending from North Lake Drive. Maniaci said the development will be market-driven and that demand for colonials in Troy has been high. The homes will range from $390,000 to $450,000, he said.
“The development will preserve 32 percent open space, including the wetlands in the southeast corner of the site. The plans also preserve two landmark trees and 175 other trees. Landscape buffering will be planted along adjacent homes, and a walking trail will lead to Raintree Park. However, 397 trees will be cut down.”
