Oakland County Crime Blotter: Stolen Gun Recovered In Oakland Twp

The following information was provided by the Oakland County Sheriff's Office and took place between 7 a.m. Monday and 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Larceny from an automobile/recovered stolen handgun/Detective call-out

OAKLAND TOWNSHIP — A 17-year-old Rochester man has been lodged in the Oakland County Jail after admitting to breaking into vehicles in Oakland Township, police said.

Deputies at 11:38 p.m. Monday responded to a residence in the 3400 block of Sussex Drive on the report of a suspicious person. The caller reported seeing someone on her surveillance camera standing near her vehicle which was parked in the driveway. Deputies responded to the area and located a suspicious vehicle on a neighboring street and initiated a traffic stop.

Deputies inquired as to why the suspect was in the area. The suspect was unable to provide a plausible answer, police said. Upon investigating, deputies located a stolen handgun inside of the suspect’s vehicle along with other items which appeared to be recently stolen, police said. The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody and transported to the substation to speak with a detective. The subject subsequently admitted to breaking into multiple vehicles, according to police. The recovered handgun was returned to its registered owner. The driver was lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending the issuance of criminal charges. Detectives will be continuing with the investigation.

Assist medical/drug overdose/Narcan administered

PONTIAC — Oakland County Sheriff's deputies on Tuesday used Narcan to help a 45-year-old Pontiac man who had overdosed regain consciousness.

Deputies and the Waterford Regional Fire Department responded to the 500 block of Collier Road for the report of a possible drug overdose. The caller reported the victim was unconscious and was experiencing labored breathing. Upon arrival, deputies assessed the victim and administered two doses of Narcan (Naloxone) to him. The caller advised deputies the victim has a history of drug abuse. Paramedics arrived on the scene, administered another five doses of Narcan and continued to monitor the victim’s vital signs.

The victim regained consciousness and began breathing normally. Paramedics from Star EMS transported the victim to McLaren-Oakland Hospital for further treatment and evaluation.
