Troy Teen Assaulted After Duck Incident; Car Vandalized with Condiments

Man assaulted after throwing cup at duck
Troy Police officers responded to Thursday evening after receiving reports of an assault in progress. Officers spoke with both men involved in the fight.
A 17-year-old from Troy told police he threw a cup at a duck outside the restaurant. According to a Troy Police media release, the teen then said the suspect, a 23-year-old Farmington Hills man, yelled at the teen. After the teen yelled back, he said the man approached him and hit him in the head several times.

The suspect told police he saw the teen throw a cup and try to kick the duck, so he told the teen to leave the bird alone. He said the teen swore at him and taunted him. The man admitted to Police that he got out of his car and hit the teen, and when the teen continued to taunt him, he hit him again.
The 23-year-old man was arrested on assault and battery charges.

Woman arrested after driving under the influence of Xanax
Troy officers stopped a suspected drunken driver near Interstate 75 and Coolidge Highway early Wednesday morning. According to a Troy Police media release, officers noticed the woman did not appear intoxicated, though her balance was very poor.
The woman said she had taken a Xanax, and after failing sobriety tests, the 37-year-old Rochester Hills woman was arrested for operating under the influence of drugs. Results of a blood test are pending.
Checks stolen from mailbox
A homeowner on the 2000 block of Virginia reported Thursday morning that someone had placed two envelopes containing checks and monthly statement stubs in her mailbox for pickup. At 9:30 a.m., a neighbor told the homeowner her envelopes had been opened and the checks removed.
Woman robbed in Oakland Mall parking lot
A woman called police Wednesday afternoon after she said she had been robbed of two rings in the Oakland Mall parking lot. According to reports, the 45-year-old Imlay City woman said she had listed the rings on Craigslist and received a phone call from a man who agreed to buy the rings for $4,000.
The woman and the caller arranged to meet outside Chili's in the mall parking lot, but when the woman showed the man the rings, he grabbed them out of her hand and ran away, the report stated.
The suspect is described as a young male, 5 feet 5 inches tall with a thin build and numerous tattoos. He was wearing a white baseball cap, a white T-shirt and black shorts.
Car vandalized with condiments
A resident on the 2000 block of London reported on June 16 that her vehicle had been vandalized during the night. The car had been covered with catsup, mustard, barbecue sauce and pieces of chicken.
